Noticed today my oil light is flickering at idle. It does disappear when you give it a little throttle. This is a diesel 2.25 btw. So, the oil gauge reads 40psi at idle and heads up over 60 when going down the road. Thoughts? The only thing that has really changed is that I did pressure wash the piss out of the engine yesterday to ascertain where all the leaks are coming from... It did not do this prior to that as far as I noticed.

I have other problems, I'll post them in separate threads... :)

IF...you have 40psi at idle now on the gauge AND you have light that flickers......I would check the connection on the oil pressure sending unit.

You just may have knocked it loose with the pressure wand.

It will go out if I throttle it up and I checked the connection. It will not light at all if disconnected of course but the connection is ok. It also is on when engine is off and goes out when engine starts. It generally acts like an oil light does and if I could not see the gauge I would assume I had an oil pressure problem.

Replace the switch, then see.

This^^
Typical symptom when the sending unit starts to leak inside itself.

My oil pressure sending unit acts up after getting wet and the light will come on, flicker, or glow dimly. Let it dry out and you should see the problem resolve.

Now it's stuck on all the time. I am just going to unplug it and don't really care. The oil gauge reads fine. Thanks everyone.

A new switch is about $10

x5. Actually you can probably just clean the connection and slab some dielectric grease on it.

I had the same problem. Just cleaning the contact with me wire brush fixed it.

$5.00
Cheapest engine part on most Range/Land Rovers. Buy two at that price...the ship is about $5 for first, $2 for second+.:D
