The Right Lube

I think I have a fair understanding of the right lubes/fluides for my series III land rover. I understand the special requirements for gear and brake fluid, but is there any special requirement for motor oil and basic grease for fittings. I have standard 10w-40 on hand as well as lithium grease for u-joints and such - will this be fine for my rover?
