    pendant vs. non-pendant ball joints

I almost wish I didn't have the offical LR parts catalog because it always seems to complicate my life....

    For the Track Rod Assembly:

What is the difference between "pendant type" ball joints and "non-pendant type" ball joints? And how does one know which one, one has?

My first reaction is to go by 'shape', but the only ball joints I've ever worked on...look like 'normal' ball joints.

    thanks.

    got an answer

From an expert across the puddle. Thought I'd share for anyone dying to know:

"The pendant type track rod hangs below the steering arms on the axle so the nut for the ball joints is at the top. The non-pendant type track rod is the opposite, with the nut underneath the steering arm."
