1982 Land Rover SERIES III ex-MOD LHD 109 24V FFR with hardtop, 2.25 L Petrol engine (the engine is a five-main bearing engine, so far as I know)

71000 kilometers (works out to be about 44000 miles)

Truck has no rust issues whatsoever. No rust on the floorboards or sills. Frame has no rust at all on it and has been Waxoyled to within an inch of its life. Seriously, the stuff is on pretty thick.

All military equipment on the truck is still there and functions as it should. Has all the junction boxes and hook-ups for radios, though I’ve never hooked up any sort of radio.

Some of the other military standard equipment includes: six-way switch for headlights etc., two 12-gallon fuel tanks, bumperettes, pintal towning hitch, Saulisbury axle/ beefed up suspension, towing/ lifting shackles/ hooks.

Truck has had carpeting put down in the driver and cargo area, as well as trim on the doors. Both items can easily be removed should you desire, but it does help cut down on the road noise in the truck.

Transmission shifts smoothly, all gears work as they should. All lights and electrics work correctly and have no issues.

The truck starts up right away with no hesitation or issues. However, unfortunately, it does need some engine work. The engine sounds as if there is a stuck valve or some other similar issue. I am guessing here, a mechanic HAS NOT looked at the truck. Truck will start and can be driven short distances. Feels as if it is only running on three cylinders though.

Prior to this issue, truck ran great and could be driven on the highway. With highway speeds, its “sweet spot” was about 50 mph, though it would do 55 and 60. I did have it up to 65 a few times (going downhill) and once it went about 75 or so. OK, so it was being towed at the time it did 75, but it still traveled at that speed.

Seriously though, it won’t win any quarter-mile time trials, but for a Series Land Rover, it had great pick up and could travel at highway speeds. Once the engine issues are fixed, I’m sure it will do great once again.

Parts are readily available from Rovers North or other similar outlets.

The radiator hose also needs replacing. It’s cracked and leaks coolant.

The truck has not been abused. Well, not by me anyhow, I can’t attest to the soldiers of the British Army. I have used it for a few light-duty off-road excursions, but mostly it was road-driven.

I also have the assignment records for the truck’s time in service with the British Army.

Truck comes with the tow bar shown in the photos, which makes getting it home easier, though it DOES NOT come with the chains wrapped around the front bumper.

Also DOES NOT come with the jerry can/ jerry can mount on the rear door. Truck will come with the rear door spare tire mount that was mounted where the jerry can carrier is mounted. No new holes were drilled for the jerry can, I just used the existing holes from the spare tire carrier.

Truck will come with an extra 24V alternator. It works, though needs a new pulley. Two additional new batteries come with the truck as well.

Truck also comes with a clean and clear Maryland title in my name, so no hassles with importation or registration. It’s just as simple as registering any other used vehicle.

Minus the engine issues, the truck is pretty solid and in great shape. I’m torn over selling it, but I don’t drive it as often as I should and I have a few other things going on. Plus, long-term storage at my location isn’t an option.

Asking $7900 OBO.
