Does anyone know of a good location(s) for facts on Series Rover Restoration? Specifically I am interested in pictures / descriptions documenting original colors and location of parts on Series II trucks. The engine compartment would be great for starters. My II is pretty complete and original but there are things that I'm not sure if its just the way Land Rover did it or if someone has changed something along the way. For instance the piece of copper tube for the heater running along side the valve cover in this picture. Did they really use copper? And someone butchered the vacuum advance tube. Was it originally attached to the bulkhead?

You could try picking up the official parts catalog. RN sells it, or at least they used to. That comes complete with exploded views. It won't show you a complete engine bay at any particular period in time, but it will allow you to eliminate stuff you think may be 'weird' and non-original and it does note parts that were supplanted based on engine/transmission suffix, etc.

ECR had at least 1 true barn find on it's site. It was a marine blue 109 that had been garaged for afew decades if I recall. I just took a quick look and didn't see their Series Section (all defender stuff). However, maybe I didn't take enought time. The truck was so original and in such good shape, they did a refurbishment rather than a full restoration. Don't recall how many shots of the engine bay.

The II-A on the ECR site, as "Roverhaul," is mine - for which I thank ECR and Rovers North! My Rover is a '66, not a '71.

You may want to get in touch with David Pound, Stowe, VT. He completely restored his '58 Series II and remained very faithful to the oddities that populate the short-lived Series II. Look in the Rovers Magazine archives on this site for the articles about his rebuild, or contact him directly at david@davidpound.com. He really researched the Series II; his Rover won a concours award at the British Invasion.

James Taylor's books on the Series Land Rovers are generally acknowledged to be the most complete for restoration purposes. You might also consider contacting Philip Bashall at the Dunsfold Trust in the UK.

Thank You Jeff, You have an exceptional truck. I kept up with the week long restoration at ECR but did not realize that Roverhaul.com were one and the same.

In an effort to answer my own question I found http://www.lrfaq.org/index.html. Some useful info here. Simple direction on converting from positive earth to negative earth.
