Which physical size battery (battery group size (http://www.rtpnet.org/teaa/bcigroup.html)) was originally installed in 90/110 Rovers with 2.5 NADs? I want to switch to a dual underseat battery setup and need to know how large to make the tray.

The bible says:

Battery - 2.25 and 2.5 Eitre Diesel engine

Type .................................................. ............ Chloride B.B.M.S. No. 243 15 plate designation 395/175/90

Which really means nothing in terms of dimensions and contact arrangement (I don't think).

I assume you are wanting to construct a battery tray for your SIII 109? I will have to measure the box on my 110 Pickup but its pretty good sized. I can put two Group 34 Redtop Optima batteries in there no problem.

Actually, I got it worked out, thanks--I just bent up a stainless steel tray that'll accomodate 2 group 34 or 24 batteries. There just wasn't enough real estate down there to accomodate 2 group 27 batteries, so that became irrelevant. In my original post, I was just trying to figure out which battery group-size was supplied by the factory in 2.5-equipped Rovers, as I was trying to remain as faithful as possible to the original setup.

Thanks again!
