    Military Bonnet Fastener Alternatives?

The spare I have mounted to the hood is larger than stock and the bonnet moves a little too much (for my comfort) when I run over rough spots. I was thinking about installing some Military Bonnet Fasteners to secure the bonnet a bit more, but as with many things, the price is a bit high IMHO.

Has anyone had luck with alternative, non LR (J**p, gasp!) latches to accomplish this? Also, since the military bonnet straps (Y shaped, adjustable, over the spare) are pricey, in the same spirit as the previous question, anyone have any luck making their own?

Any stories/pics would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

Great, thanks. The others I have seen didn't have the 90 degree bend, which probably would have resutled in a couple of extra shipping payments and returns.
