Hi - my 64 Series IIA has been running fine except today the Ampere gauge on the dash started reading higher than what it normally does. It does not settle back at zero, so it has always been a little higher (around the midpoint on the scale to +30), but today I noticed it was above the midpoint and as I continued to drive, it kept gradually going higher toward +30. How would I manually check this? Could it be a bad voltage regulator? Will I fry my electrical system if I keep driving it? I still have the original dynamo generator set up.

Thanks for any assistance.

How would I manually check this?

With a second amp meter or volt meter with amp settings.

Check your voltage while it is charging. Amps can be high if you have a battery that is discharging. The voltage at the battery while running shouldn't be over 14.5V. If the voltage is too high, then you risk frying your battery. Amps will read high is your meter is faulty (unlikely) or something is loading your system.

Amps will also read high if you have lots of electrical accessories on.
