Is there a difference? This is an 88.

Yep there is a difference, but the one you want dependson the diameter tire you are using, 109 speedometers come calibrated for 9.00 16s, or 7.50 16s, 88" speedometers were generally calibrated for 6.00 16s or something similar.

I suspect you'd want one meant for 7.50 16s if you could get one.

Thanks Matt.

FWIW a series III should work for you too- I think I used one in my IIa before. Maybe had to use the series III cable? They have those 3 lights in the bottom too. In any event that might open up some more options for you.

I just dug through my spares- I should have had a late IIa one but I couldn't find it, the two I found appear to be series IIIs and are marked 1536 so they are for 88"s. :(

SWB S1 to S3metric: 1536 - suits 6.00x16 and 6.50x16.
LWB S1: 1500 - suits 7.00x16.
LWB S2 to S3metric: 1408 - suits 7.50x16.
Metric S3 LWB: 860 - suits 7.50x16.
Metric S3 SWB: 880 - suits 6.50x16...

...2B FC speedo reads 1344 which should suit 9.00x16shttp://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/74418-what-error-tolerance-lr-speedometer-4.html

That might do the trick actually. I'll drop you an email for your number.

By the way, my SII speedo didn't have the lights underneath for high beams so I just figured that was the way it was. I guess the fact that it was a South African service truck could have had something to do with that as well.

Thanks!

Just saw this... I'll update the email. Thanks! :)

Never did get the manifold but as an emergency fix, I welded the studs back in. Do you know how hard it is to MIG a soft steel bolt to a case iron manifold? Yeah, almost impossible. :p

So it's being held together with a little bit of TLC and a lot of crossed fingers. ;)

Braze it, piece of cake.
I just sold a speedo here a few weeks ago, but noticed George (RDS) has an NOS one.

Remind me to bring that manifold to Guy Fawkes this fall and I'll give it to you. I think the studs/holes were ok on it.

Actually, due to the heat I think brazing would have a hard time. Maybe I'm wrong though.

What you are supposed to do when welding steel to cast is heat the iron up until it's cherry red and then do the welding. At least this is my understanding of it.

I didn't do that so well and two out of the three studs fell out after not too long. I went ahead and helicoiled it a week or two ago and we'll see how that holds up. It is nice to have an exhaust that isn't hanging on by the skin of it's teeth. :D
