Remember the thread a while back about the expensive pastel green SWB soft top on e-Bay? Well, keep an eye on this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1975-Land-Rover-Series-III-/140419039345?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item20b1a08071#v4-36

Rarely do I see a vehicle on e-Bay and say "wow, that's nice", but wow, that's a nice looking Series III. Wonder what it will go for.

Sorry, I guess this should be under General Discussion, not Technical.

Line-x'ed lower dash? Never thought about that...and not so sure I like it.

It is very nice. I'll watch this to see what it does...seeing how it is very close to mine.

I'll be driving right past that one, hopefully in my III, later this week.
If anyone wants a closer look, let me know.

$7,600 top bid and reserve not met- not too surprising really.

Yeah for some reason these things seem to lag behind other similar vintage/type vehicles in price. :sly:

It could be that despite all of the concerns about corrosion, the Series trucks really escaped the bulk of the rust bucket era and as a result there are still plenty of survivors.

Dang, that jeep looks almost as good as Jac's LW! Is he secretly doing them on the side? :nono:

Perhaps- I think maybe there is just a smaller market for Land Rovers to begin with. That and the fact that those who are willing to pay big $ for a Land Rover want something more than what a Series has to offer, thus they'd be more inclined to purchase a coiler. Competing within the miniscule market that vintage Land Rovers have- leaf sprung Land Rovers are at a distinct disadvantage.

That's got to be it. It looks like occasionally there is a serious buyer who is willing to spend the money on a really nice Series vehicle. Then another really nice Series vehicle comes up for sale and there are no serious buyers. I guess that's just the way it is.

Or as they say in the real estate world, location, location, location.
