2.25L block question, Cam bearing holes?

When I stripped my engine down, found that there were 3 deep holes( just below the 8 keeper bolts for the tappet slides) which were filled w/ dirt and grime that lead down to the OD of the cam bearing shells. ( right side of the block).

Now that the engine is going back together now...I thought about sealing these off. I suppose it really never seemed to bother anything being open either since the cam bearing seals it of at the bottom?

Thoughts? comments? Thanks... Talbot

them holes are used to smash the cam bearing seals into submission (to bend 'em) so ya can get 'em out when you're replacing the cam and its bearings, right? why fill in the holes?

Ha.... I missed that step in the green bible. Plus the engine machine shop pressed them out and back in for me....
