Gearbox seals and Hylomar

I think I have everything ready to go to put gearbox together, question regarding seal/gaskets and sealant. Do I put the sealant on one side of gasket or both sides? How much do I use? I bought one tube, will this be enough for the entire gearbox and transfer case, or do I need to purchase more?

I would apply to both sides. Apply a thin smear so that the entire surface is coated. I do not recall how much I used when I rebuilt my transmission and transfer box, but it would not hurt to buy another tube. Even if you do not use all of the second tube on the rebuild it is useful in many other areas on the truck.
