That spot light is great! Is there a brand on it or anything?

And as others have said, it looks like a good truck for the price.

Reality check. The 2600 is what we would call the "entry fee". Dunno the laws in Michigan but just the work needed to get it on the road could add up to several hundred or several thousand. You just never know what you are getting into. You definitely want to do the brakes. The non starting diesel is likely due to either no fuel or the line needs bleeding. Pop for some new filters at the same time.
If it is just going to sit in the driveway and offer quaint tinkering opportunities, then I suppose it's going to be fabulous for that.
However, if you are considering a total restoration with the notion of making it all shiny and all, then you should begin to think about 15-20 grand to get there. No kidding.

Actually, you should not buy this.

Just tell me where exactly the Rover is located.

Sounds like a better than fair price assuming all is as it seems. Just a couple of (obvious) questions but worth asking. The engine isn't seized I presume. Just won't start. Wasn't clear on the "frozen" aspect. And I trust you have taken a ball peen hammer to the frame everywhere it is accessible to check for rot? Those would be my two call outs of issues that would have ugly implications. No doubt you will find stuff you didn't expect but hopefully not with big price tags.

A rebuilt bulkhead with good paint can run you $2600...the bulkhead in that one looks to be quite clean and with a little effort could be nice and clean. Thats a good deal as stated.

Yes. Get it. Also very rare that the panels are not all beat in. Looks to have had a reasonably nice life to this point.

Sounds like you're handy, so you'll be fine. I think Rovers are only a maintenance problem for those that are not handy or those that are not willing to learn to be.

I've worked on diesel cars for ages and find them much easier and more satisfying than gassers. Both of my Rovers are gas but would love a diesel.

Just get it and don't look back. You won't regret it.

Good luck and keep us posted.

    Phil.

That's a no brainer at $2600. As stated above you will have some work but will have a great project that if you ever wanted to sell you might be able to break even on. They are very addictive though I will end up driving and enjoying it much more than you thought.

X2 on it being a Koenig rather than a capstan. Might not be Koenig, but it's definitely not a capstan based on where the fairlead is.

Yes, worth $2600 in today's market.

As for it not starting, if it's been sitting for a long time the fuel system is probably clogged with bacteria and needs to be cleaned/flushed.

Looks like a fixer-upper at a good price. A winch and a search light and with red paint, might have been a fire-tender in a former life. Go for it....... And experience with tractors will be handy when owning a Series.
