While cleaning and disassembling my 2.25 liter diesel cylinder head during a head gasket replacement, I noticed a crack between the intake and exhaust valve seats on #4, picture below.
I don't see the crack continuing into either port but I assume this means the end of this cylinder head's service life, correct?
This area was also warped a bit; I was able to pass a .004" feeler under the straight edge. I didn't have allot of confidence in my straight edge so I was planning to bring it to the machine shop to have it checked but it doesn't seem worth it now.
Time to start searching for a replacement engine or head.
