Hi all-
I posted recently with a Fairey overdrive problem, and true to form, I have compounded that with another problem. I removed the overdrive and tried refitting the gear and cover that goes with the original transmission and now the whole transmission is seized up- including the low range lever. I haven't taken it apart again, but I assume I assembled something incorrectly, although I can't think of what it is. Is it possible to over tighten that castle nut on the end of the main shaft? Am I supposed to do something to make sure it is properly meshed with the transfer case gears? It seemed to go together okay at the time.
Any thoughts anyone has about reassembling after removing an overdrive would be appreciated.
