    Utility Plugs

Does anyone know what type of accessories were connected to the red and black plugs found on many Series dash panels? I have a IIA with them and I have a IIA without them.

My 1953 MG TD has what appears to be the same plugs, and I've seen them in other British cars. The impression I get is that this was a British standard for 12 volt car accessories. I don't recall seeing accessories specifically for Land Rovers, but in shopping for MG items (via eBay) I've seen everything from trouble lights to windshield de-icers to tea kettles!

        Use for the Plugs

I remember that Rovers North once carried an accessory lamp for the plugs, which of course, I failed to purchase when it was advertised.

I wonder if there are any NOS or used ones around?
