Can you splice A/C hoses

I don't feel like pulling my whole dash apart to get at an A/C hose if I can splice it and just repair the end where the leak was found. Or, if someone can braze the fitting without creating a hazard, that would work, too.

Help! I don't wan't to pay $500 for air, but I live in the freaking desert.
