Well, my Rover no longer sounds like a lobster boat! Today I replaced my muffler. As you can see by the pic, even without the backfire something tells me I would have been replacing this muffler sooner rather than later.
I called around to some welding stores and got the answer, they don't make SS welding wire for your size machine. Since I wasn't about to go and buy a new welder to fix this muffler I went ahead and gave a shot at welding the SS muffler with what I had on hand. We will see how well it lasts!
Took it for a drive and so far so good!
Over the last 3 days I have:Truck is running good, I'm a happy Rover guy! I know this is like 2 hours work for a real mechanic but it probably took me 10-11 hours over 3 days.
- Replaced seal on the right rear wheel, degunged brakes, reassembled
- Repaired and replaced broken alternator mount
- Oil change and re-oriented the spin off adapter so I don't burn up my motor like someone I know.....
- Mounted bracket to put spare tire behind the bulkhead
- Adjusted turn signal mount
- Adjusted timing
Depends on where in the system you need to join, You can always use clamp on type piping to fix it.:thumb-up:
I pondered putting in the overdrive today.
Nahhh....
Some other time.

Just drive it as usual :thumb-up:
Although it is still early and the mail hasn't arrived with it yet I installed a new alternator. The Rover gods being willing.

The last "repairs" were done last week at the annual state inspection. The local mechanic found loose nuts on the propshaft where it attaches to the transmission brake assembly, and loose nuts on a spring hanger plate. Otherwise, everything was fine. I need to replace the dodgy windshield wiper blades, but that's it for now.
During this week, the Rover has hauled a lot of firewood and served as my carpentry vehicle. I would like to swap out the canvas top for the safari top during the predicted "January thaw" next week.

Installed a detroit locker in our Salisbury getting ready for the winter romp, and topped up all the fluids
