Les,
I just lost all I just typed-let me do this again........shorter this time!!
Ok,
4 weeks ago, Hohenfels(upper Bavaria), Wheels event, 2006, TD6/manual tranny, LR3, all the good kit hanging on it, the guy had driven up to England to pick up a set of the new 19" Goodyear MTR's 2 weeks earlier(I think coming to US in spring). Truck was unstoppable. Most of us have Disco 1's and 2's, Def 90's or 110's or Gwagens, etc with mimimum 2" lifts, lockers or tru tracs, MT tires all the goodies. This guy smoked most of us-that truck was unbelievable(he's been a real serious offroader in the most tricked out MB Gelandewagen you could imagine for years though). Some dragging of the low stuff, but he's a guy with lots of money and bought this thing to use; he didnt back down from anything and completed all runs on first try all day. He would step out and look like he was ready to go to Casino Royal-effortless. So the technology is amazing. But he was first to say, if it all takes a dump in the field he's hosed. Will see if my buddy got pics(my digi camera took a dump that day of course).
Cheers from Bavaria
Jack Salyer
You mean like this Les?

They are up in Cologne(Koln), I'll stop in and report on my next trip over to that part of Germany....
Thanks! Well, it was me that posted the photo... From what I hear, Amadeus Matzker loves Land Rover Defenders and has a pretty mean Porsche 911 track car. If you wouldn't mind snapping off a few shots that would be great! [see if he has any mod'ed 2006 MINI Cooper S's hanging around as well - my daily driver :thumb-up:]Quote:

We call the game on how the ball is played, ie football means we use our feet not, as in USA, our hands!
Oh, I totally agree... calling American football "football" seems strange.... lol...Quote:

Had a few turns up in nortern Ontario.. these are from a Wheels event my dealership put on... I've also got some really good pics from the LR drivign school in Montebello Quebec. I'll post them later.
REALLY steep incline - maybe not so impressive, until I tell you that this was a 45 degree incline up a solid piece of rock -no steps or grip anywhere to be seen.. and all on road tyres!

Doing the suspension hanging game... I am ashamed to admit it, but if you notice, I am in the passenger side - my wife may just be <gulp> a better offroad driver than I.

I'll throw in a few more from that day, even though they are not LR3's, but they are cool pics anyways...

Don, looks like you are having more fun driving the Aston Matrin *on-road* than in the passenger seat of the LR3 off-road! Nice photos eventhough it is an "off-Road" thread! Where are the video clips ??!!?? youtube 'em up.
ps to myself... glad that I programmed the forum to scroll right when someone uploads large images.
Sorry about that - I couldn't figure out how to scale them properly and I don't have any image manipulation tools on my work computer.
Yeah, the morning was tooting around in sports cars - Aston Martin DB9, Bentley GTC, Bentley GT Flying Spur, Jaguar XK convertible, and a Jaguar XJ-R.
Afternoon was spent running round the woods and rocks in LR3's, RR's and RRS's. No Defenders though :(
I didn't do itmyself, but one of the guys took the RRSSC on the skid pad and did some high-speed laps in it. Very impressive if you're one of those who buy into the concept of a high-speed Rover..

No biggie! I'll edit the photos for you and re-post 'em on our server at a more forum friendly size.
I guess I'm one of those track hungry guys... Floggin a RR Sport around the track would be fun :thumb-up:.
Here are some more photos of Matzker's trick Discovery 3 dc5r / LR3 in Germany...

Is that the ARB winch bumper for the LR3? I like the look of it, but not sure how you would see the spindle if it is covered by the bumper? How would you know if you have fouled the line?Quote:

A brand new LR3 (Discovery Series 3 in Australia) was part of a convoy that crossed the Simpson Desert, which is a big trip that takes months and months of preparation, as it is an expedition style trip.
The D3 was very reliable and the only vehicle amongst a bunch of Discovery II vehicles.
Here is a couple of videos for your viewing pleasure:

Now if I just knew of a company in the NorthEast that needed a salesman who has a passion for Land Rovers I would be a happy man.
I bought it installed, They are very hard to come by on this side of the pond. It's almost easier to get an ARB.
Great pix !!
Thanks for keeping the post alive and for sharing the Colorado experience. :)
Here are a few from my last Trip to Colorado and Moab.
