    Default 97 Disco window problems....................

Hello everyome....hope you are well !

Quick question for your expertise........ The front passenger side window has quit working. Upon inspection it appears the sacrificial rubber gear in the gear drive of the motor unit has stripped. Motor runs fine up and down.

Does anyone have any experience with this ? If so......what are my options here? Can I swap this out with one of the rear door motors, etc, etc........?

    Thanks in advance !

You should be able to swap the RHR motor for the worn out RHF.

Thank you Les! I will do that as a last resort.

Actually the motor itself is fine. On the motor is the gear assembley that rachets the regulator assembley up and down. There is the nylon gear that I am assuming is probably engaged by the worm gear of the motor shaft? Nested inside the nylon gear is a rubber insert which fits around the shaft which I am assuming turns a gear which engages the teeth of the regulator itself.

The problem is the core of the rubber insert has torn out of the rubber insert and no longer will turn the shaft to move the regulator. Motor turns fine up and down.....just won't move the regulator. Is this rubber insert available by itself or do you have to buy complete assembley ?

    Thanks,

    Doug

i work for an auto glass company and the bushings you need are kinda hard to come by, I've got some generic ones that are made for gm window motors that I'm gonna try to fit/rig into my LHR window in the next few days, your best bet honestly is to bite the bullet and buy a motor froma parts store (oreilly/checker, etc) for the OPPOSITE FRONT assembly and bolt it in, should be $65-85; probably what I'll end up doing. relatively easy fix....

My Disco was broken into a while back and when they shattered my driver side window that little bushing passed away as well. I had to give in and buy a whole regulator.
