    Default Brake Fluid Reservoir

I may have a leak associated with my "tin can" brake/clutch fluid reservoir on my 1968 Series IIA 109. I have been told that they are NLA. Has anyone come up with a decent subsitute? Seems like you could have two separate plastic reservoirs, if you could figure out how/where to mount them, and hook up the lines.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

There has to be a simple graft for fitting a remote reservoir to a series truck. If you have a pipe flange and some fittings for the new reservoir I'm sure you could hook up a nice setup and mount it any where that is above the master cylinders.

But I'm sure the next poster has the step by step instructions for it.

PS: Shifting into High Range soon! Woo hoo, thanks Rovers North BBS

Since our good friends at Rovers North do not list a brake fliud reservoir can (I just checked their catalogue), I thought it OK to mention that British Pacific carrys a replacement can. It looks just like the original except that one of the threaded openings is in a different location (both on the bottom). So you would need both a new can and a new tube for moved line.

    Reservoir, replacement type #582980, $69
Hard line to clutch master cylinder #588710, $18
(required when converting to replacement reservoir)
Decal, “Use only Girling brake fluid” #215665

So you can have a new reservoir that looks factory stock & a new hard line to your clutch master for under $90.

There is a small picture of the can on page 40 of the downloadable on-line catalogue.

There was a lovely plastic reservoir, that had identical mounts as the original can, made at one time. I have one on the 109". No one seems to know what happened to them, just that they aren't made anymore.

    Les,

    That looks like it!

Does it have a pipe that attaches to the bottom also?

I know that I tried to find one about a year ago, and couldn't.

    Thanks, buddy!

    Default great kit

The kit Les mentioned works well. I used it when I rebuilt the brake system on my 1966 iia. Well worth the cost.
