    Default Replacement shocks

My 2004 DII is approaching 75,000 and I can feel the shocks needs replacements.
I do mostly on-road driving, with few excursion on logging roads and similar, some towing.
What are the suggestions for replacement shocks?
    Stick with OEM?
    something different?

I've been real happy with my Old Man Emu shocks and steering stabilizer.

I'd go with Bilstein if you plan to keep stock ride height, or OME/Terrafirma if you want a 1.5"-2" lift.

I'm trying to find a good suspension set for front and rear but I want to lift it about 3". What is a good shock/strut brand that is inexpensive but reliable?

Do you have any additional weight? Such as a front winch bumper, rock sliders, HD rear bumper, or a roof rack? If not you will net around 3" of lift with our Terrafirma HD kit, a very inexpensive option at $499.00. It's what I run in my DII right now.

I actually thought about that but my wife wants to try n get a full size roof rack for extra storage when we go to middle tn. Would the same kit work or would it be better to get a heavier set for the added weight?

With a full size roof rack you'll still probably net about 2"+. It's when you put more weight in front of the front axle and behind the rear axle that you get dragged down more. Roof racks are not very heavy.

The kit you choose would also depend on the ride comfort you require.
The more Heavy Duty the kit (springs/ shocks) the less dampening of any bumps will occur.
OME and Terrafirma are great for off-road, keeping traction and the like, though doing 50 mph down a road with frost heaves and snow plough pot holes can be quite exciting !
