Thread: I need a mechanic in the Chicagoland area.

Default I need a mechanic in the Chicagoland area.

I just arrived back in the suburbs of Chicago, Niles, after driving a 1971 Series IIA Rover all the way up from Costa Rica. I was able to have mechanics work on it along the way and I have learned a little bit as well but now that I am back I need someone good. I would truly appreciate any recommendations for any good shops or persons who might be able to help me get my Landy back into proper working order.

    Thanks in advance!

There use to be a mechanic in a place out in Lake Zurich, IL (http://lindbergauto.com/) that did a lot of work on old series. He was recommended to me. When I first got my series I went to him, without the truck, to ask a question about some starting problems I had. He spent 30 minutes telling me all the things he would do to the series when I brought it in. It sounded like 6 months and $10,000 worth of work so I eventually learned to do all the work myself (easy and very gratifying). So... if you need a mechanic I think this fellow would do a great job but you have to manage the work and get only what you want or he'll rebuild the whole car for you before you know it.

How long did it take to drive from Costa Rica? Probably pretty long, so let me update you on some news. John Glenn's orbital flight was successful! Some other stuff has happened, but we'll let your hearing return a bit before we fill you in.

Look down at your keyboard. See those things at the end of your arms? Hire those.

Thank you! I took my time with the trip back, 2 months, and 12,500 kilometers. It was an adventure to say the least.
