    Default Independent wiper question

    I cleaned and regreased both motors a couple of years ago. Lately I noticed the sweep of the blades has changed. The drivers side arc is about 135 degrees while the passenger side is only about 85 degrees.
    Any possible reason for the discrepancy?

    Did it do the same thing prior to the rebuild? If not I'd pull it apart and have a look

    Ha, My wipers are independent and have about the same sweep, but, one responds to a regular motion while the other looks like it is attending a Grateful Dead concert, it just moves slooowly back and forth as if sedated.

    Maybe you packed to full of grease ,that old grease pretty hard in those old wiper motors ,most of the time you need to clean it all out and regrease them, the main cause of the sloooooooooooow movement.

    That and corrosion on the various shafts and bushings. Just had my two apart and they are doing much better now. The large gear had "100" on it which I assume is the number of degrees of sweep. Don't see how that could change......

    If it's a "how to" you're looking for, THIS is the link I used.

    Between the site... the pictures posted on it... and the links it supplies as reference, you should be all set.
    From experience, be careful of the circlip and spring on the wiper shaft - they are eager to fly across your shop/kitchen.
