Thread: Land Rover Series IIA 88 exhaust system replacement

Default Land Rover Series IIA 88 exhaust system replacement

The POs of my 65 Land Rover Series IIA 88 (bought last year and stored since) produced a thing of beauty on the outside and the interior, but underneath—

The exhaust pipe broke off from the very rusty muffler. And a repair record noted stripped threads in the exhaust header. I’m considering replacing it all, from header to tailpipe (LH exit). Anyone done this who can suggest things I should look out for?

I would also replace all the exhaust hangers , including the fabric flexible parts and their compression limiters ( Item 41 in picture)for the fixing bolts, as they are often omitted. Also replacing steel nuts fixing exhaust to the header with brass , helps next time they need to come off Name: 20220609_144633.jpg
