    Default transfer case slipping

    I WAS AT THE MAR AND HAD A FLAT TIRE, I WAS RUNNING OVERSIZED TIRES AT THE TIME AND MY SPARE TIRE WAS SMALLER. EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL I DROVE ON PAVEMENT (I ACTUALLY KNEW BETTER BUT DID IT ANYWAY THINKING I COULD MAKE IT TO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION TO REPAIR MY TIRE), I MADE IT ABOUT 5 MILES WHEN THE ROVER LOST ALL FORWARD POWER. WHEN IT HAPPENED THERE WAS NO GEAR GRINDING OR LOUD NOISE, IT WAS A SMOOTH, QUICK, AND QUITE LOSS OF POWER. WHEN IT ARRIVED AT MY GARAGE (VIA TOW TRUCK), I NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE TRANSFER CASE AND REMOVED IT. UPON OPENING THE TRANSFER CASE I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A THING THAT HAD ABOUT 20 DISCS IN IT THAT MAY BE THE PROBLEM, BUT NOT SURE. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM? ANY IDEAS?? EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE T-CASE LOOKED GOOD.

    Your Viscous unit Failed, You should also figure in replacing the chain if your milage is on the high side, Fairly simple box to repair
