Yup, I visited them once when I was still in the UK. Sorry to say I can't remember much about the people but the trucks they build are very nice. They tend to skim the nice ones from the market so if you are looking to import its a good place to buy from. For a price they will also rebuild your truck from a general overhaul to something better then new. Those were very nice.

    Cheers

I have been to the Land Rover Centre in Huddersfield several times (my wife' family lives near there). They have helped my import two trucks and the guys there are top notch.

Mark Griffiths (the buyer) really has a knack at finding the really good trucks. He is the patron saint of the "barn find".

With the dollar / British Pound exchange rate currently deep in toilet, it is hard to make importing a truck work for you. But if you are looking for something specific - Mark is your best friend.

I actually bought a Series III from them, and then had it imported to the US. It's in Colorado and enjoying the new life, though the altitude gives it some issues. I've not got around to changing the jets yet.

I bought it from them when I lived in the UK. Went up there to meet them, check out the S3, then drove it around in the UK for a year before they shipped it to the US when I left. Mark was the contact, and he was nothing but solid and straightforward in all my dealings with him. I had some issues with the S3 when in the UK - the frame had been replaced with a galvanised one, the transmission rebuilt, the interior/exterior refreshed, but the engine tested and left alone. I ended up replacing the carb, water pump, fuel pump, radiator, and gas tank (thankfully, parts are easy to get in the UK) before it ran right. LRC "helped me out" when it came time to ship as a result of the engine troubles. S3's been solid ever since.

It was fun making the visit there too - went up to see the S3 88 station wagon but almost bought a 109 instead (worries about the engine long-term brought me back to the S3 and the 2.25). Drove the S3 all over southern England as a daily driver while there, though it only gets intermittent use in the US. I still live out of country and only get to it on vacations/visits. Starts every time, with a little pumping.

They won't be the cheapest, but you get your money's worth. Shipping it to the US was easy, but getting it from Baltimore to Colorado was not. That's another story.
