I have the syncro-less IIa tranny with no problems.
I can double-clutch, but have found it does not shift any easier than if I don't, so most of the time I don't bother. I have also found that if you 'throw' it into gear, rather than 'baby' it into gear, it tends to grind less.
If the revs are "right" and the technique is firm, but not abusive, it goes in easily, if not, well we all know that sound...
I suppose if this is your only manual shift vehicle, it might be a problem to get the technique just right. Personally, I think double-clutching has become a lost art, and should be preserved for our grand-children!
