Beautiful and very high quality English restoration, less than 500 miles on truck since restoration (odometer reads 111). A very rare find, especially on the West Coast.

The Rover was shown in 2007 (and very well received) at the prestigious California Club member’s car show alongside some of the most famous collectible cars in the world. This is the same model car driven by the Royal Family, Winston Churchill, adventurers and third-world dictators alike.
Substantial work has been done on the Rover by the premier classic mechanics in the country, Adams Engine of Reno (the same garage that worked on the collectible cars in the Titanic movie), and by Huntington Service Center (originally the service arm of British Pacific, the leading independent Rover parts and accessories dealer in Southern California for forty years). In addition to being fully serviced by Huntington in 2008, upgrades to the restoration include the installation of vintage bench seats in the bed, a new gas tank, cooling system and starter, pork pie lights, vintage gear shift knobs, vintage rear hubcaps, 110 Defender stock offset 16 inch wheels and English Avon tires and a period canvas top. It has no known rust on frame, body panels are straight and rust free and the seats/benches have been reupholstered in period style. The truck is a four speed with both overdrive and four wheel drive. It is a lot of fun to drive. Recent service records will be included with the sale.

As depicted in the photos, the bronze green truck is “cherry” (has been garaged are rarely driven by recent owners) and also comes with a tropical hardtop kit (which is itself worth several thousand dollars and is almost impossible to find), period British Automobile Association grill badge, 1950s owner manual in English and Portuguese, and various small parts.

Recent owners include:
  • Former US Delegate to United Nations and frequent visitor to Africa
  • Former US diplomat based in East Africa now stockbroker in Reno
  • Car enthusiast in Palos Verdes
  • Flagship display car at the Mission Viejo Land Rover dealer
  • Restored from the ground up by a Canadian petro-engineer
