22RE's are good engines. Mine (Yellow HiLux 4WD above) had about 100k miles on it and needed a top end valve job when I got it. I replaced with a Toyota 18RG (2000cc, with side draft Mikuni's), redline was about 7,500 rpms. Absolutely loved hillclimbing.

Hey guys, sorry I'm late to the party, but it's my truck being mentioned in those other comments (bc4x4 build thread and "seen up in BC, Canada) so....I can probably answer a lot of your questions! Would love to see pictures of what you've got going on as well. Here's mine, with the latest modification, a chevy 4.3 v6 (also blew my usually bullet proof 22r and this has been a very popular swap for Toyota 4x4 guys for a long time) Click image for larger version.

ID:	10829 My current issue is that I could use new springs, but all the aftermarket ones have 3+ inches of lift (OME does 2" but it takes weeks to get them here) and I really don't want my truck to be much higher.
