1978 Land Rover Series III 88” RHD 2.25 diesel utility.
4 speed with Fairey Overdrive, 7.50 x 16 tires.
Truck is original and recently imported from UK. Have all correct paperwork, EPA/DOT forms.
New galvanized chassis, brake lines, travel straps, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, exhaust and fuel tank fitted new in 2005 by PO. They had owned it for many years as family rig.
Engine rebuilt (new short block and conditioned head) at similar period. Do not have paperwork to support this (have reduced price accordingly)
Body has rust at top of bulkhead and on left top of door pillar. Both spots can be cutout and repaired. Floors, inner bulkhead, seat box, fine. Rear door bottom has some corrosion. Door tops are worn and rusty (new door tops with glass supplied in primer)
Truck drives very well, engine is peppy and does not smoke after 30 second warm up (normal for these) gearbox does not jump, Overdrive is quiet. Brakes have just been bled, and are crisp.
Returns 25 mpg plus, biofuels would be fine, rubber fuel lines would need replacement.
Heater fan may need replacing, speedometer cable is broken and windshield wiper switch is intermittent. Headlights are new flat face halogen w/H4’s. all lights,horn, gauges (besides speedo) working.
This is perfect drive and restore land rover. You would be starting with a proper galvanized chassis, rebuilt and correct land Rover engine, smooth, quiet overdrive and I will include with the sale (reserve price met) the following:
· New pair of door tops (mentioned above)
· New set of parabolic springs (set of four)
· New set of shocks (set of four)
· New set of Deluxe seats (correct black set of three in box)
· New pair of rear bench seats (black) pads and frames in box
· New Rear load space rubber mat
· New set of pedal pads (factory style)
· Set of used freewheeling hubs
· Sun visor for windscreen
· Pair of extra wheels with excellent 7.50 x 16 tires
All you will need is carpet set (or make your own) and some labor.
