New Key Fobs

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if key fobs can be reprogrammed without going to a dealer. I have seen replacement key fobs for sale on ebay but dont want to buy one unless they can be reprogrammed at home.

To the best of my recollection, they can only be done at a dealer.

Perhaps someone else knows better???

It actually depends on which year your car is, I gather; at least some D1s can be reprogrammed without a car computer interface; I gather that no D2s can -- you either need to take it to a dealer, or get an ODB interface that knows how to talk to the Body Control Unit; the Faultmate MSV is reportedly one such, though I don't have one... yet.
