Default Front axle has a hole

Today I hit a rock that made a small hole in my fron diferential housing. The hile is about 1/8 inch wide. Can it be wekded or sealed or does the axle have to be replaced.

JB Weld for the short term.

A full real weld should sort it for the long term.

Thx. This is where I was when I got the whole. We were in Anza Borrego, Ca. Great time but trip was cut short. I did use the Jb weld and that was enough to get me home. I dont weld but I wasnt sure if it could be welded.

you can buy a new pan from our host. I have one in the garage waiting to be installed.

Or, buy a used axle housing from someone.

    Cheers,

It may be locking the barn after the horse is stolen, but you should still get a front diff protector. First piece of off road kit IMO. You bent your drag link too.

Thx. i regret not adding the armor underneath. I also have a 99 disco II and it is loaded underneath with plates. my daughter was hit by this truck and did some damage to the passenger door. Un fortunately I took my 96 into an area I should have stayed away from.

Axle has been welded and leak has stopped. Sure glad it was fixable. I need to learn how to weld and buy me a mig welder. It was difficult to weld for some reason but welder was successful.
