What did you do to your Rover today?

Rebuilt door tops I bought from RN using the old hardware from my rotten door tops and bolted them on. Why didn't I do this years ago? Nice solid fit and no more gaps!

I moved my 2.25 from the old busted leaf chassis to the new colier

Over the last three days my series rover:
-drove 600+ highway miles (to and from mystic CT and waterville ME)
-changed the tires twice (a/ts to m/ts and vice versa)
-got winched 180 degrees
-had the lev-o-gauge read 30 degrees
-got pulled by an RRC
-pulled an RRC
-carried tons of gear and extra parts
-parked safely home in the driveway waiting to be unpacked tomorrow from Winter Romp 2010

I haven't had to do any work on my Land Rovers in at least two months. In the meantime, my 109 pickup has been working for me... hauling lumber and gravel for a shed I'm building. Hopefully the pics will post here.

Yesterday I converted my truck over to LED turn signals, parking, brake & tail lights. It was straight forward but I did need a new electronic flasher module and when I opened up my front lights I discovered lots of rust on the sockets. I replaced all the front sockets as well.

Geeezzzzz, I'm a little worried about the front parking lights which I have wired to be on then the headlamps are on as well as in the park position. They are so bright with the lens over them that you could almost drive by them and they spread light evenly all over the place.

I'm also fabricating new radiator mounts for my new aluminum cross flow radiator. When the old one died I sent it back to the manufacturer for their analysis of why it died. Their conclusion was that the radiator was shook to death. Too many hours on washboard roads and bouncing around on trails testing how well shocks handled fluid heating. I used clamps with hard rubber between the clamps & radiator.

I have the new bottom mount in, the radiator mounted and connected and the new top mount should be fabricated, welded, & notches cut before the end of today. The radiator will sit in full length top and bottom channels with closed foam padding.

Well i have to say here today that i love the DMV.
That was the smoothest its ever gone there.
Got my temp plate.
Drove down to get the vin checked
and got my early american plates.
Wow its legal and everything.
And the rover ran spot on.

I drove to the tag agency and my license plate for the Lightweight. I am officially legal to be on the road! Unfortunately, the battery died while I was eating lunch afterwards and I had to get a jump start. Oh well, now I have an excuse to buy an Optima battery!
