    Default 96 Discovery trans

    Hi Guys,
Just got back from driving to Karumba. On the way back, the transmission had trouble selecting first gear. From a stop start it would select second or third gear then kick down when excellerated. Also when doing approx 80km jump in and out of overdrive. Can anyone help?

Other than checking to make sure you are full of fluid and the filter isn't clogged, you may want to check the cooler lines to ensure that they are not clogged going the radiator.

If all of this is correct, then I would say transmission needs rebuilt/replaced.

Start by checking your transmission fluid level, engine running, transmission in park, level ground.
If that is full then have the fluid and filter changed.
    That should cure the problem.
A clogged transmission filter will not let the fluid flow easily.

I would start looking for a replacement transmission! Never seen changing the fluid helped. I hope that I'm wrong.
