Agreed, Can't imagine what this guy is thinking asking that. It really doesn't seem that special actually..

You can buy this one for half the money and get a complimentary NAS110 thrown in.

Even worse! That duct tape is on the intake! The heater has black pvc on the interior!!
However, having said that, some (note "some") of the workmanship is nice. For instance, the oil cooler up under the right wing is nice. The wiring looks pretty nice also with the relays and fuses. For 140K, seems like circuit breakers could have been worked in tho.
I'd love to know how much money was expended for the the brand new motor. Its nice!
            My $0.02.

140.000 $ is way too much for a destroyed classic.
Why didn't he just buy a Defender.

                $140K

Basically, I like what they have done. It's not restored but it's a nice set-up for an old series sw. The $140K is totally absurd. You could get two or three really nice 110 SW's for that price. Like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LAND-...item3a6145008a

Um I would expect a ground up build for that cost...no duct tape on the heaters. This guy is bonkers. Maybe if Matt at Overland sees this he'll chime on the price of one of those engines since he is working on fitting one of those engines in a ground up build Defender now.

The engine was pretty much the only thing I liked. I'd kill for one of those. Especially since they started less than $4k. It is the one and only thing I would want for my defender, but hey, my 4.2 isn't any slouch. Just don't have the range. Last time I checked, 500+ was better than 250.

I could respect this 109 more if it were a leafer, and if it was bone stock in appearance. And if it had a fully trimmed interior. But some of the workmanship is hacky and it just doesn't look right. For that price it should be unimpeachable. Even with the price the Orvis 109 is up to, you can't fault Lanny's craftsmanship or faithfulness. Not so with this thing.

Are they still making those 2.8l International engines or are they out of production now?

hardly necessary amcordo, i doubt you would ever attempt to sell a frankenrover for over 100K...

                              Amen to this POS

Save the 2.8 for a bolt in on a defender....

S1 86" meet Eco rover yuck, I can't even imagine how this 2.8 was made to fit. 6cyl bulkhead? Or surely a defender bulkhead with a series shelf..yawn.

I saw a listing for a 1985 defender with only 12k miles on it for 18k truck like new, hmmm I could buy 7 of them and still have money left to feed that V8
