Looks like a great engine swap. i am very curious about your RPM at higher speeds.
I have a 2.8L with great power in my 109. It turns 3000RPM at 60 with 34 inch tires. It gets pretty noisy and rattly at that speed so I normally cruise at 55MPH. I think an overdrive would be great for higher speeds on the highway but then I would loose my Konig PTO winch.

you made me go out in a cold rainstorm at 11:00 at night to measure my tires......i have 225-75-R16... with a flashlight in my teeth rain in my face with a worn out hard to read tape measure my tires are about 30 inches tall.... i dont have a tac in this yet so i am going by feel. this engine is well balanced and has a solid 5 bearing bottom end i have taken it up to 45 MPH in 3rd before a shift into forth i don't normally rev it that high but it has done well. this engine pulls hard from idle to red-line and just hum's along. a lot lighter then the rover engine and with the tires i have on now i think this is the perfect engine, power to weight ratio for a 109. i have a tandem axle trailer im gonna hook up to this. I think this will be a good test to pull a hill loaded with firewood...........So you know im driving a series rover when you see me beating a trailer load of firewood with a broken axle shaft............
