    Door Open Sensor

I just bought a 1996 range rover. It has a series of issues I need to sort out, but I got it cheap. The message center on the dash tells me the right front door is open all the time, my eyes tell me different. I can't find a switch on the door. Any Ideas? I understand the air suspension won't work if a door is open, so if I can fix the door problem, other problems may be solved.

The switch is in the door latch. So, looks like you will need to replace the latch.

I disconnected the wires from the latch, and removed it from the door. I sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner and re-installed it. The "door open" message went away for one day, then came back. I guess I'll head to the junk yard for a new latch.

I've seen a lot of latch problems with customer's P38s. A common problem starts with a flat battery. The latch doesn't tell the BCM that the car is locked, so it doesn't power down properly. So it sits there on stand-by and drains the battery.
