Yikes, this must be a real piece of "quality" for 10 bux???? & 29 bux for a caliper???

All it needs to do is hold the dial indicator steadily at one point in space, which it does nicely, though the model I have doesn't have that funky adjustment thing halfway down the outer arm.

Couple things. I don't think anyone advocated the cheapo caliper. The dial indicator stand will be fine for 99.9% of the people here because it's automotive(not really precision work) and it's most likely getting used once every 18 months or so. You want a higher quality indicator, the stand doesn't matter as much.
We build stamping tools and molds here at work along with some production machining. Our stands aren't all top of the line either.

I've been on here for two years and you guys give away the "jerk" title to someone else?

Tony, you're no longer the flavor of the month. Do something stupid, like replace that bowtie motor with a 2.25 and you may earn your rightful place back. But for now your just.....Tony.....:p

I prefer to call him Tony, the man with the mythical rover. Then again, I think it was all a fluke, since we haven't seen any more girls in his rover except for that one time...:)
