Replacment Bolts for WARN hubs (M11's)?

The drive axle hub flange bolts on my SerIII 88 are 3/8- 20 BSF thread , Not 3/8-24 UNF thread. With the Warn hubs, the supplied hex head bolts are tough to tighten and remove.

the 3/8-20 tapped holes prevent me from replacing the (6 per side) 3" long hex head bolts with an easier to install socket head cap screw.

As an option has anyone drilled out the 3/8-20 tapped holes and insert a UNF helicoil to change to a 3/8-24 UNF tapped hole? Jusst an idea right now.

otherwise , does anyone know were I can purchase 3/8-20 BSF socket head cap screw x 3" long??

    Thanks..Talbot

Fantastic... Thanks!! Now Just need to find out if they are a high grade or not. Certainly easier than helicoils...

Interesting. Mine are unmistakedly metric.. M10x1.25. And this in a LR that predates the British metric conversion by over a decade. I have the Warn M11 up front and a Salisbury of unknown vintage in the rear... but they're all this size. I don't know if this rings a bell with anyone....

        Kind regards, Josh

          m10x1.25) 10 mm = .3937" 1.25mm pitch = .0492" pitch 60 degrees thread angle
          38-20 BSF) 3/8 = .375" 20 TPI = .050 pitch , If BSW or BSF they shoud be a 55 deg thread.

I guess the metric bolt could fit and work, that's not to say it is correct though.

I'll have to get my tread gage out again and double check what I really have.. I'm pretty certain it's not metric.

British Fasteners just told me that they can't fill the order for 3/8ths X 20 X 3" BSF cap screws. Anyone else know where I might find them?
            Thanks,
            Jim

Perhaps someone has swapped the hubs with those from a later vehicle or re-tapped them with metric. My '65 came to me with SIII axles hub to hub. Being my first rover I was a little confused when buying parts for it at first!
If I couldn't find the bolts I wouldn't fuss with the british stuff, just helicoil them with and go with 3/8-24. Can find that thead anywhere.

Have you contacted Warn? They might even have a stud kit that would be stronger than bolts. Just a thought.
