Replacing Series 2 ignition cylinder with one that uses a larger key

I am finding the key to the ignition on my ‘59 Series 2 is simply too small. As well it is too close in appearance to the door keys. I’m looking for a cylinder that will fit and would have either a larger end or better a plastic covering over the end.

I don’t want to take my cylinder out before finding one because sure as tootin’ if I do not only will I have trouble getting it back in but that could be the kiss of death, making any possible alternative unobtainium.

Does anyone have a picture of what the cylinder looks like to point me in the right direction? I don’t care OEM etc. However all I seem to find are cylinders with the two tabs surrounding the keys ie older Detroit style and I don’t think this will fit around my light selection switch.

Or better, a model number or suggestion?

    thanks

If you are looking for a visually different key, Triple C has several different shaped key blanks available. You need to know what type tumbler you have. I think the FS and FP were the types typically used. On some the key or tumbler has the type and key code stamped. Some years ago I replaced the tumblers and keys on the wife's SIIA and my SIII with the different shaped double sided FT type key.

The tumblers can be removed using a thin rod or drill bit to depress a button on the tumbler. In one position the tumbler will line up with a small hole in the switch body allowing the rod to be inserted, but the small tumbler button often sticks.
