    D90 Ex-MOD Hard Top

Can a hard top Defender Ex-MOD be converted to a soft top?

    Is it difficult?

    Thanks,
    Jim

Not difficult. Basic method includes removal of hardtop, adding hoop set and hood as the English say. But you have to sweat the details to make it work!

      # EX1314 Hoop Set full Canvas Def 90 $595.95 In stock
      # EX5197 Full Canvas With Sand Windows, Sand $499.00 In stock
      # PLB705 Lower Tailgate $379.00 In stock

This will get you 9/10ths of the way towards having a Soft Top.

      Let me know.

I made a bikini top to go over the roll bar ( I assume yours has one ) abd cut a piece of marine ply wood for a tail gate until I can get my all aluminium swing gate welded up. it gets wet when it rains but who cares, No Ex-MoD should have carpet.

The largest hurdle will be sourcing a roll bar if you don't have one. Most of the hardtop exMOD 90s and 110s did not have them.

You'll need the roll bar to provide an anchor for the seatbelt shoulder harness.

Les has a bar in his truck specifically for mounting the seatbelts to. I run mine as lap belts without the roof.
