    Manifold gasket help

    Hello Alan,

I need some help tracking down a gasket for a 3.5V8 Defender 110 I am delivering to a client. I have a good size oil leak coming from the manifold. We tried replacing the inlet manifold gaskets. The ones we pulled out where very worn. Some one had even used silicone as a temporary patch to keep to it from leaking. The problem we are having is we can not seem to find the right ones. Where is the serial number on the engine located? Wondering if maybe to could look it up an tell me what one I need cause I'm drawing a blank with the normal sources.

    Parts numbers from Rover Farm

Seal - Inlet Manifold (Early) we tried this one as it looks closest but is just a tiny bit to thin.
    Ref: 602099 / Price $2.99 each
    Application: Rover V8

These ones are completely not right but are the only other gasket I can find for the engine.

    Seal - Inlet manifold (pair)
    Ref: ERR7283 / Price $6.99
Application: Rover V8 (sold in pairs)

Not sure which gasket you're looking to change, but the serial number for the engine is on the offhand side of the engine (driver's side in US) between and below the center two spark plugs on the block.

From what I could find; it's a 3.5L with 8:13cr for Defender 90/110 from 1983 to about 88. Not sure exactly of change datebut being a low number (the series started with 21G 00000) it should be an '83. Hope this helps out.

So it's the valley gasket thats leaking you can see where it's leaking at the 4 corners its not sitting flush...swear it was flush when we installed it each corner has slight wrinkle.. So new valley. we did not epoxy that gasket so hopefully that will fix it
