I've heard on the Discoweb boards you can use rear springs on a DI and add 2in pucks to the rear to get a 2in overall lift. Is this true? Anyone used this combination?

You can take the rear springs on a D1 and put them on the front, but it would be best to get new springs for the rear. Keep in mind that if you do then that if you add much weight to the front it will still sag because they will be worn out.Joey

2" lift spacers
Have you considered our 2" Lift Spacers as an affordable alternative:
2" Lift Spacers. Easy to install, for that DIY person. No special tools are required. Fits between axle and spring plate. Set of 2 front, 2 rear. Does not fit Discovery II's:

The front and rear springs and Disco, RRC and 90 are all interchangeable. The rear springs on 110 are bigger and won't fit. However...the difference is the lb/ft rating. The tallest spring doesn't always make the car sit higher. If it's not stiff enough then it will sink. The stiff short spring will make it sit higher.
I have mixed feelings about the spacers. They have potential to move. THe best way to do it is with +2" springs.
And will you change the dampers? They will bottom out and fail if you don't change them for longer versions.Comment

How much lift would that give me?? I'd like to fit 215/85's (30in) or somewhere around there. My shocks are original, so they are old and worn.99 Beluga Black DI SD

They don't need to be Genuine. Britpart springs are very good. They do a standard ride height heavy duty spring which will have the effect of lifting about an inch over standard. They also do +2" springs.
I have Bearmach springs on my Disco. They are fine but some of the later batches have been known to break! I think they have sorted this but you don't know if what you are getting is old stock.
If you don't want to buy longer dampers you can get mounts which will lower the damper the required amount.
Please note that is is nigh on impossible to say how much a set of Defender springs will lift a Discovery without trying it. You have to consider the weight of the vehicle and max load. Whichever is higher will have a stiffer spring. Although there is little load effect on the front when loading the back of the vehicle, the front springs have to support the engine and most of the gearbox. V8s are quite light in comparison to diesels. I don't know if you can get diesel spec springs over there.
I know your resources are limited and springs and dampers are very heavy and can't easily be shipped over.Comment

I run a set of HD OME springs and shocks all the way around on my D1. I am pleased with the results. However, my rover rides more like a truck now. Excellent off-road is my compromise.
