    Roof Leaking, HELP!!!

So when it rains hard or at least some what significant rain fall, my roof seems to be leaking through the rear vents and sunroof buttons. Where is it coming from? How do I fix it? I'm not talking about dripping out, I mean when i drive it is pouring onto my back seat. All help is much appreciated.

Have you cleaned out the drain tubes for the sun roofs?
Blow some compressed air down the tubes from the top (after opening the sunroof), located in each corner.
The water is probably laying in the frame of the sunroof waiting for forward motion to distribute itself on the inside of the vehicle.

I have not, so just open the roofs and shoot air down the rails?? Sounds like a plan, will do that and get back to you. Thanks Les.

Sometimes you have to take off the headliner and get to the drain tubes if there is a lot of crud in them. If you don't use your sunroofs you can close them run a bead of silicone sealent along the edges to help keep the water out.

Ok, what I got from that is, take the headliner down (sagging and needs to be put back up anyway), then clean out the drain tubes, then put everything back together and that should fix it.

work in the auto glass industry, have to diagnose a LOT of sunroof leaks. open sunroofs, clean obvious debris from around drain holes. squirt water from spray bottle into each hole, check corresponding wheel well, plus or minus a few inches to ensure that tube is draining properly. if a hole backs up and doesn't drain at all its clogged. If nothing comes out the bottom but it keeps taking fluid at the hole then it is disconnected somewhere between point a and b. bear in mind that these holes are meant to drain normal amounts of water, taking a hose to a single drain hole is obviously more water than can quickly drain through a small diameter. using an air compressor and suitable nozzle blow through any clogged tubes and repeat procedure. rarely do I find a tube that is so clogged that some moisture and high pressure are wont soften and blow the obstruction through.

DO NOT SEAL A SUNROOF (or any other piece of auto glass) WITH SILICONE TO FIX A LEAK! silicone is a sealant not an adhesive and when run around a seam like a sunroof or windshield will not adhere. it may slow a leak temporarily but will not seal it, silicone works as a sealant when pressed between to objects that secure to eachother and do not shift or expand and contract at different rates. it also doesn't weather the elements the exterior of a vehicle endures very well. all it will really do is jack up your paint, look like hell and leave a mess and residue that never goes away.
