I hope someone here can help me... I need to replace the front brakes on my 00 Disco II, and through this site, they sell 2 different brakes rebuild sets (rotors, brake pads):
1. Proline - $129
2. Genuine Land Rover - $279
There is another LR parts site that sells 2 different brake sets (rotors, brake pads, screw brake rotor locator) as well:
1. FERODO BRAKE REBUILDING KIT FRONT (http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/9991D2F.cfm) - $240
2. Brake rebuild kit (http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/9991D2.cfm) - $180
I have several questions:
1. The rebuild kits range from $129 --> $279, so which one is the best value (reliability vs cost)?
2. Does anyone have any experience with any of the above products? Would you recommend one to me?
3. How difficult are they to replace? I used to own an Explorer, and got pretty good changing the brakes on that POS, so I'm fairly mechanically inclined, and can handle a moderately complex job, up to and including changing an intake manifold gasket...
4. Do the rotors come machined, or will I have to have them machined?
Thank in advance for any help you can offer!
