Suspension advice please....

Hello all. I think, after much debate, that I have decided to replace the sls system on my 01 Disco. Replaced bags last year and now pump is shot. I need shocks all around as well. I do not do much off roading. I use the vehicle for everyday driving and camping and fly fishing trips in the mountains here in NC. Nothing hard core at all. I'd like to keep a decent ride but I do tow a trailer occasionally so the sls was nice for that. I saw the new terrafirma kit here at RN that interests me. It states a 2" lift. I don't have any bumpers, winches etc. on the vehicle. Will this kit offer a good ride or should I look at other products. Any/all advice is welcome.

The Terrafirma suspension kit is a nice product, I have driven 2 DIIs that used it and I much preferred it over my 2" Old Man Emu lift kit. I will be converting to the Terrafirma set up within the month. Personally I have a large winch bumper, winch, roof rack, rear HD bumper, and installing rock sliders soon; so I will be going with the heavy duty kit. I think you should look into the medium duty springs for front and rear.

Thanks for the reply Zack. The "kit" I was looking at is the TF230. It states that it's a HD kit. Is there also a MD kit available? I like the kit because it also contains the mounting plate for the rear spring conversion. Are these variable rate springs? I would still like to tow a trailer without too much sag.

I am currently trying to make a Medium Duty version of the kit, I will get you a kit part number as soon as possible. The rears are variable rate, the fronts are constant.

So we will have the kits up today. Not sure when they'll be on the web, but we can do both already. TF229 will be the same price as TF230, just a medium duty version of the kit.

(You get the whole conversion kit with the TF229 and it's $120.00 cheaper...so that's up to you)

No problem! I've been wanting to get that kit made for quite a while now. If your vehicle is not heavily equipped with extra weight, the heavy duty 2" lift actually is larger than 2", and can cause driveline/alignment issues.

Do you think i'll be ok with the MD kit? Generally I don't carry any extra weight except when camping etc. I may put a TF bumper on front down the road but likely not a winch. I prefer to avoid issues if possible. Thanks for the advice.....again.

Absolutely. I know of many people that have bought the HD kit without issues to the drivetrain, but better safe than sorry. The MD kit can handle a winch bumper, but will give you a much better ride.
