2003 discovery will not shift into gear

My 2003 will not shift from park into any gear. The shifter is stuck in Park. Does anyone have have a solution?

You need to replace the brake switch above the brake pedal, it prevents you from shifting out of park without the brake depressed. When it fails you can't shift, it is a cheap and easy fix.

Not shifting from Park

I am also having trouble shifting from Park on our 2002 Discovery II and suspected a faulty brake light switch. Thanks for the technical hint, I'll post the results after I change the switch.
