Has anyone had any experience fitting a dual battery system into a Disco II. I was thinking of fitting two Odyssey batteries with a National Luna Split Charger Kit. The Disco I has a place for a second battery but as far as I know the Disco II does not. I would really appreciate knowing the experience of others with this project. Thanks --Jim

The battery tray on the D2 can handle a larger-than-standard Odyssey.

 I got this from expeditionexchange.com

 PC2150

 Reserve Capacity: 200 Minutes
 Cold Cranking Amps: 1090
 Length: 13"
 Width: 7"
Height: 9.5" (to top of terminals with SAE adapters fitted)
 Weight: 78 lbs.
male 3/8" stud posts; SAE adapters included

I went with the Sears Platinum which is generic Odyssey and $100 less.

 I know it's not 'dual' but it's a viable solution.Stu

Thanks Stu, that is a great battery, and I am planning on using that as the primary battery. Still have no solution on a dual system: its just an engine space problem in the Disco II. Thanks --JimComment

The dual trays for a D2 that I have seen for retrofitting are expensive.

I could probably fab a tray but with a baby in the house time is nonexistent.

So when my Optima took a dump I decided to go with the Platinum which offers 4 year replacement.

Since it's Sears I should be good most places if it goes tango uniform.Stu

Stu, can you point me in the right direction for the dual battery retrofit tray that you saw. I really need a dual system because I am going on an expedition where we will be out in the wilderness for several days. Thanks --JimComment

Stu thanks for the invite. It will be hard for me to get to the meetings in Atlanta (I live 2.5 hours away in Augusta) but I will certainly try to get to get to some of your events. Thanks --JimComment
