I just bolted up a rear work light onto my 109 hardtop. Before I wire it in I was curious to if any of you guys use a disconnect for the wiring which will allow you to go between a hard and soft top without any wiring issues. If you do is there a recommended connector?

GM weatherpacks work well for this. They are waterproof when joined, incorporate stress relief for the joint and If you feel fancy you can even make a second mating piece with blank plugs to cap it from the weather when not in use.
Very easy to find at NAPA and similar. -

Wiring
So did you just wire yours into your tail lights or did you run its own wiring back to the bulkhead?1971 Ex Mod IIA 109

Presumably you're going to have the single wire disconnect at the same place that the dome light disconnects (above the center of the windshield), so why not just do it the same way the dome light wiring disconnects (note that the potentially "hot" wire has the female connector so it won't short out if accidentally touched to a metal ground).--Mark

Dome Light
I currently have no wiring in my hard top or a tie in to my windshield. My only domelight is a battery operated LED. Thats why I was thinking to just drop it down to the tail light wiring. I figured that was the most direct route.1971 Ex Mod IIA 109

I just installed one on my 88. I wanted to keep all factory wiring original, so for accessories I made my own harnesses.
The worklamp (and rear heated window and rear speakers) were run from an auxiliary fuse box (with relays) that I crammed behind the cover on the bottom left on the dash (S3).
I ran the new harness up through the tub where the other lamp wires go and behind the side window panel's rearmost corner panel. Then, male and female connectors to the accessories in case I want to remove the roof ever (highly unlikely after what I just went through!!!!!).
Works great, safe, and clean too!

Tom,
Top right corner of the roof. Works well (and clears my garage door still!).

Plate
I did. I placed a 4" x 4" metal plate on the backside of the nutt. I will take a photo once I get it out of the paint booth tomorrow.1971 Ex Mod IIA 109
